Steve Cardillo

BS in management from Boston College; Currently the VP of Corporate Development at a PE-owned growth stage software company;  Lives in Cambridge with wife (Jen)

Is this your first marathon? First "official" marathon although ran Boston in 2010 and 2011 as a bandit.

Why do you run for MMB? I have been with the organization for nearly a decade- I started as a Mentor, served on the Exec Committee and now serve on the Board. I understand the massive impact a great college education can have on life outcomes and the ability to pursue one's dreams. I was very fortunate to have had resources supporting me with this goal growing up and I saw MMB as an excellent way to try to provide that same support to incredible students not lucky enough to have the same resources behind them.

Favorite song to listen to while running: Everything from podcasts to throwbacks like 'Club Can't Handle Me.'

Favorite post-run snack:  Likely not found in many training guides, but have a tradition with another friend running Boston to finish our long runs at Halftime Pizza outside the TD Garden, where we immediately down a large pepperoni pie and 32oz glasses of Coors Light. We believe it's effective.

Complete this sentence: When I finish the marathon, I will feel: like I've earned that pizza!

Brendan Hughes

BA in Economics from Bowdoin College; Grew up around Boston; Currently working at Philips Healthcare on the Mergers & Acquisitions Team.

Is this your first marathon? Yes!

Why do you run for MMB?  I started out as a mentor five years ago and have served on the executive committee for three years. I truly believe in the mission. Minds Matter helps improve equality of opportunity for promising young students, which I believe is the basis of the American Dream. Marathon serves as a great opportunity to spread awareness about this exceptional organization.

Favorite song to listen to while running:  I try a new Spotify playlist during each run. “Till I Collapse” by Eminem is a go to pump up song.

Favorite post-run snack: Peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Complete this sentence: When I finish the marathon, I will feel: Ecstatic to see all my friends and family that have supported me at the finish line!

Listen to graduating seniors, Meryl, Tre'von, Nate, Julio, Dale, and Aysha talk about their experiences in the program.
